The latest trend is to re-release digitally restored version of old films, after releasing some of the popular Sivaji films like Karnan And Vasnathamaligai, also MGR's Ayirathil Oruvan, Kamal -Rajini's 16 Vayathiniley, Ninaithalaye Inikum now Ajith's Amarkalam will be releasing on May 1 on Thala Ajith's birthday.
Amarkalam is Ajith's 25th film which is directed by Saran and it was a super hit at the box office. In Amarkalam Ajith played a stammering rugged youth and Shalini played his love interest, the film is more special for Ajith because during Amarkalam, the actor expressed his love to Shalini and now they are one of cutest star couples in Kollywood.
